MONTREAL — It isn’t every day that a four-year-old girl stands up to royalty, but Jessica Saba from the Montreal suburb of Lachine is hoping that King Philippe of Belgium will hear her plea and block the country from enacting a law permitting child euthanasia.
In a video released on YouTube on Sunday, Saba pleads with the monarch.
“For the sake of the children,” she says. “Please do not sign the Euthanasia Bill.”

“Child Euthanasia (German: Kinder-Euthanasie) was the name given to the organised murder of severely mentally and physically handicapped children and young people up to 16 years old during the Nazi era in over 30 so-called special children’s wards. At least 5,000 children were victims of this programme, which was a precursor to the subsequent murder of children in the concentration camps.”
