Has Fukushima’s Radioactive Wave Already Hit California?

Health officials confirm spike in radiation on San Francisco beach but have no answers

Paul Joseph Watson & Alex Jones Infowars.com January 6, 2014

Predictions that Fukushima’s radioactive ocean plume would hit the west coast of the U.S. sometime in 2014 may have already come to pass, with a new video showing Geiger counter readings of background radiation at a beach in San Francisco over five times the safe level.

Days after a YouTube video emerged showing background radiation at a Coastside beach reaching over 150 micro-REM per hour, Health officials in San Mateo County confirmed the spike but said they were “befuddled” as to its cause.

However, officials dismissed the possibility that the readings could be linked to Fukushima radiation reaching the west coast despite forecasts by experts last summer that radioactive particles from Fukushima would reach U.S. coastal waters in 2014.

The video shows a man measuring radiation readings at different spots on a beach south of Pillar Point Harbor. Background radiation in the areas immediately surrounding the beach are normal, but once the man approaches the water itself, the radiation spikes to at least 500 per cent safe levels and the Geiger counter’s alarm goes off.

The man behind the video claims that on his previous visit to the same beach, radiation readings were 13 times the safe level.

“In the following days, other amateurs with Geiger counters began posting similar videos online,” reports the Half Moon Bay Review. “The videos follow other alarming news last month that starfish were mysteriously disintegrating along the West Coast, a trend that has not been linked yet to any cause.”

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and state Department of Public Health are now investigating the cause of the radiation and more information is expected to be released this week.

While officials will almost certainly downplay the situation in order to prevent panic, it’s important to remember that genuine public health crises are virtually always preceded by government duplicity.

TEPCO and the Japanese government have repeatedly been caught lying in their efforts to downplay the scale of the Fukushima disaster. In September it was confirmed that radiation readings around the power plant were 18 times higher than previously reported by TEPCO. After a tank leaked 300 tonnes of toxic water in August, groundwater radiation readings at the plant soared to 400,000 becquerels per litre, the highest reading since the nuclear accident occurred in March 2011.

EPA officials in America also lied in the weeks after 9/11 when they told rescue workers and the general public that the air at ground zero was safe to breathe. According to insiders, EPA officials knew that the dust in the air was laden with asbestos but chose to cover up the truth, leading to at least 20,000 ground zero workers suffering debilitating illnesses and numerous deaths.

Mainstream media outlets have also largely toed the line on Fukushima despite overwhelming evidence of a cover-up of the true scale of the crisis by Japanese authorities. Former MSNBC host Cenk Uygur was told not to warn the public about the danger posed by the meltdown at the Fukushima nuclear plant during his time as a host on the cable network.

Concerns that the federal government is preparing for some form of nuclear emergency have heightened after it was revealed that the Department of Health and Human Services has ordered 14 million doses of potassium iodide, the compound that protects the body from radioactive poisoning in the aftermath of severe nuclear accidents, to be delivered before the beginning of February.

Route of MV Akademik ShokalskiyRoute of MV Akademik Shokalskiy Image: Voice of America

Today, while shopping at lunchtime for some last minute year end supplies, I got one of the strangest cell-phone calls ever. It was from my friend John Coleman, the founder of the Weather Channel and Chief meteorologist at KUSI-TV in San Diego. He was calling via cell phone from his car, and he was on his way into the TV station early.

He started off by saying, “Anthony, we have a really strange situation here”.

Then to my surprise, he relayed a conversation he had just had; a person on the Akademik Shokalskiy had reached out, because they didn’t have adequate weather data on-board. At first, I thought John was pulling my leg, but then as he gave more details, I realized he was serious.

What had happened was that the US Coast Guard had received a message from the ship, requesting weather and wind information for Antarctica. That got relayed to someone at the Scripps oceanographic Institute in San Diego, and it went to John’s weekend KUSI meteorologist Dave Scott. Dave had worked with a scientist who is now on the US Coast Guard IceBreaker Polar Star, and they had logged the request for weather for forecast data from Akademik Shokalskiy. That’s how all this got started.

The message was that they needed better weather information on the ship than they had, specifically about wind and how it might affect the breakup of sea ice. John asked me to gather everything I had on the area and send it, and also to help him contact Joe D’Aleo of WeatherBell Analytics, because somehow John’s cellphone had gotten stuck into some sort of “private caller” mode and Joe wasn’t answering his phone due to how the incoming call looked.

My first thought was that no matter how much we’ve been criticizing the expedition for its silliness, that if such a request had reached all the way from Antarctica to me, I’d do everything I could to help.

I told John “give me 15 minutes”, which was about the time I’d need to get out of COSTCO and get back to my office and send along some things I knew would help.

I immediately called Joe D’Aleo at WeatherBell, who was as incredulous as I at the request, and asked him to call John Coleman right away. I explained to him that we had to remember that we were dealing with a Russian ship, not a military ship, but a charter vessel and they likely didn’t have all the tools that American meteorologists had and may not even know where to look for better data. I also pointed out that the Australian scientists on-board were climatologists, and not operational weather forecasters, and finding this sort of weather data probably wasn’t in their skill set.

Joe started working from the WeatherBell end, I finished my shopping and headed back to the office. As I drove, I started thinking about the situation with the ship there. They had wind compressing the ice into shore, with the Akademik Shokalskiy in the middle, and the wind wasn’t changing. They needed a wind shift in order to ease the pressure on the ice but they had no idea when that might happen. It was a waiting game, and as we know, the longer a ship remains trapped in sea ice, the greater its chances of having a hull breach due to the pressure.

I knew just what to send, because it was something that had been discussed several times by commenters on WUWT.

When I got back to the office, I no more than pulled up the bookmark and press send on the email with a brief description of the operational weather data model that covered the region and John Coleman was on the phone again. He asked me to talk to Dave Scott and explain what I had just sent over. I called Dave immediately and relayed the email.

I sent a live link that provided this image of Antarctica, and I noted in a Tweet about the same time:

Dave listened intently to my explanation and then thanked me saying “this is exactly what we need”. I then started to do some research into the extensive library of operational forecast products put together by our friend Dr. Ryan Maue of WeatherBell which can be seen at http://models.weatherbell.com/  About that same time I get a new email from Joe D’Aleo, and he had sorted out the maps needed and had sent an email to John, Dave, and I.

Just had a request for Antarctic wind and FC data come up via Scripps from ship. KUSI, WeatherBell, WUWT all happy to help.

This map shows winds for area ship is trapped in. Waiting for katabatic winds to return which will clear ice.

In a couple of minutes John Coleman was back on the phone to me, he wanted my assessment of the maps. I had looked at what was happening and saw what I thought might be an opening in 7-8 days based on the forecast graphics from WeatherBell, where the winds would shift to offshore in the area where Akademik Shokalskiy was stuck. Like we discussed in the WUWT post yesterday Polynyas are very important for marine life and cooling the oceans I had hoped that a coastal polyna might open up near the ship. We also discussed the possibility of a low pressure system passing nearby that might help break up the ice. I didn’t express much hope for that.

The problem is that they are in a catch-22 now, they need strong offshore winds to help blow the sea ice out to open water, but at the same time they need calm or light winds for a safe helicopter rescue.

John Coleman and Dave Scott put together a video news story which ran on the KUSI 6PM News tonight. I was interviewed for the story, and you can watch it here:

Watching the wind is the key to the way out of the situation the Akademik Shokalskiy is in. This near real-time wind model is worth watching, and it updates every three hours with new observations, click on the image to start it.

Note the green circle marker, which is the approximate location the Akademik Shokalskiy is at. Winds are running parallel to the coast, and pushing ice up against the edge of the Commonwealth Bay.

Despite the irony and folly of the situation, I’m sure readers will join me in the hope that everyone makes it off the ship safely, whether it is by helicopter or by the ship being freed from the ice.

So many people around the world have been helping these global warmist fools from behind the scenes, yet all the Guardian could think about was threatening a law-suit on an American Blogger, who was actually one of those helpers. They ought to be ashamed of themselves especially since some of their reporters were part of the “tourists” stranded on the ice-trapped ship.

Published May 31, 2013 – Associated Press

LONDON –  The BBC says 152 new sex abuse allegations have been made since the Jimmy Savile scandal erupted last fall.

Victims:

The broadcaster said Friday the allegations have been made against 81 current and former staff members and contributors, including some who have died.

It said that 25 cases of suspected abuse involving current staff members or contributors have been reported to police for investigation.

Reports of widespread abuse by Savile during his long years with the BBC have led to several investigations that have embarrassed the broadcaster.

The popular entertainer died in 2011 at age 84. Since then, he has been accused of hundreds of sex crimes.

BBC accused of bias on immigration by its own political editor – Nick Robinson

The BBC made a ‘terrible mistake’ by not  reflecting the public’s concerns about immigration, its political editor has  admitted.

Criticism: Nick Robinson, pictured outside 10 Downing  Street, said BBC executives feared uncensored debate

Nick Robinson said that during Labour’s years  in government, BBC executives feared an uncensored debate about the issue would  stoke racism.

As a result, viewers’ concerns about pressure  on jobs and wages, and cultural tensions were not aired as the BBC ‘had decided  these are not acceptable views – and that was a terrible  mistake’.

Claiming that attitudes have changed, Mr  Robinson was speaking ahead of tomorrow’s screening of his documentary The Truth  About Immigration, which is set to reveal new data about the scale of public  concerns.

However, amid debate over the lifting of  controls this month on Romanians and Bulgarians coming to settle in Britain,  critics say the BBC still has some way to go.

As recently as November, the broadcaster was  giving uncritical blanket coverage to a report about the economic benefits of  immigration that was dismissed as ‘fatally flawed’ by Mervyn Stone, one of the  country’s most senior statisticians.

Sir Andrew Green, of the think-tank Migration  Watch, said: ‘Nick Robinson is right – the BBC has a lot to answer  for.

‘They were largely silent as immigration rose  from 50,000 a year to 250,000 a year under the previous government and as net  foreign migration reached nearly 4million.

‘Their coverage has improved a  little  in the face of overwhelming public opinion, which many of them seem to despise.’

Mr Robinson said in interviews at the weekend  that the public ‘deserve the truth because although immigration has been top of  the political agenda, the real debate about it has scarcely  begun’.

Controversial: Mr Robinson said that whether to allowi BNP leader Nick Griffin on Question Time caused 'huge argument'Controversial: Mr Robinson said that whether to allowi  BNP leader Nick Griffin on Question Time caused ‘huge argument’

In the run-up to eight Eastern European  countries joining the EU in the early 2000s, BBC managers ‘feared having a  conversation about immigration’ as they believed it would ‘unleash some terrible  side of the British public’.

Mr Robinson said: ‘The same people who said  you couldn’t have [British National Party leader] Nick Griffin on Question Time  said: “Don’t talk about this. Do you know what you’re going to unleash? Do you  know the horrors that are going to come?”

‘There was huge argument within the BBC about  that.’

He said his documentary would go through the ‘mistakes and miscalculations’ about immigration numbers made by the Labour  government.

Fear: Mr Robinson said that ever since Enoch Powell (pictured) gave his infamous 'Rivers of Blood' speech in 1968, the BBC has shied away from discussing immigrationFear: Mr Robinson said that ever since Enoch Powell  (pictured) gave his infamous ‘Rivers of Blood’ speech in 1968, the BBC has shied  away from discussing immigration

Accusing the BBC of being ‘too slow to  recognise and reflect the concern, dislocation and anger felt by many’, he said: ‘We worried too much about airing views that might offend some viewers and  listeners and not enough by the offence caused to people who did not hear their  own concerns reflected on air. That, I am happy to say, has now changed.’

Mr Robinson said the country was beginning to  have an honest discussion about immigration, and the fact that it might result  in greater competition for jobs, housing and school places, while also  benefiting the economy as a whole.

In the same interview, Mr Robinson did not  deny that there was rivalry between him and Robert Peston, the BBC’s economics  editor.

‘We’re not mates,’ he said. ‘He’s not part of  my social circle. Are we fairly assertive individuals? Yes, probably – removing  the word “fairly”.’

Former Tory Cabinet minister Michael  Portillo, a regular BBC contributor, said: ‘The BBC has failed in the  immigration debate over a 40-year period.

‘Ever since the Enoch Powell speech [about  immigration in 1968], there has been such a fear that immigration equals racism  that the BBC and other outlets have banished reporting the full facts for fear  of stoking racism.’

In an interview in 2011, the BBC’s former  director-general Mark Thompson admitted that there had been ‘some years’ when  the broadcaster was ‘very reticent about talking about immigration’.

He added: ‘There was an anxiety about whether  or not you might be playing into a political agenda if you did items on  immigration.’

A comment from a British reader at the dailymail which I happen to agree with…

Big  Vern,  Bristol, United Kingdom,                        14 hours ago

BBC news should report the  truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Any attempt to influence the  public perception of what that truth is, or to avoid reporting it because it  might cause offence or provoke debate is a gross betrayal of the whole purpose  of publicly funded news reporting.

PS: – John Reith – BBC’s first General Manager (Rockefellers hired hand) was pro-Hitler and pro-Mussolini – the BBC was created by the Global Banksters:

http://mediachecker.wordpress.com/2013/09/09/bbc-rides-with-al-qaeda-in-aleppo-syria-bbc-propaganda/

PBS in the USA is also owned by the global banksters though we don’t pay taxes directly to the PBS corporation it’s “subsidized” by the government aka our money. It also gets a massive amount of funding from the usual tax-free Foundations. I rarely watch it except for some excellent British murder mystery programs.

Muslim Persecution of Christians: October, 2013

Gatestone Institute

Two of the most tragic Islamic attacks on Christians, killing several women and children, took place in the month of October, one in Syria another in Egypt.

On October 21 in Syria, the U.S.-supported Islamic rebels invaded and occupied the ancient Christian settlement of Sadad for over a week, till ousted by the military.  During that week, “the largest massacre of Christians in Syria,” in the words of Orthodox Archbishop Alnemeh, took place.  Among other things, 45 Christians—including women and children—were killed, several tortured to death; mass graves were discovered; all of Sadad’s 14 churches, some ancient, were ransacked and destroyed; the bodies of six people from one family, ranging from ages 16 to 90, were found buried at the bottom of a well (an increasingly common fate for “subhuman” Christians).

The jihadis even made a graphic video (with English subtitles) of those whom they massacred, while shouting Islam’s victory-cry, “Allahu Akbar” (or “Allah is greater,” which John McCain equated to a Christian saying “thank God”).  Another video, made after Sadad was liberated, shows more graphic atrocities.

The day before rebels invaded Sadad, on Sunday, October 20, the Church of the Virgin Mary in Warraq near Cairo, Egypt, was attacked during a wedding ceremony, leaving four dead and nearly two dozen wounded.  According to a report issued by forensics, two of those murdered were young girls, each named Mary:  12-year-old Mary Nabil Fahmy, who took five shots in the chest, and 8-year-old Mary Ashraf Masih (“Masih” meaning “Christ”), who took a bullet in the back which burst from the front.

As happens frequently in Egypt and other Islamic nations, the security forces charged with protecting the church were seen leaving their posts immediately before the massacre began.  Similarly, in the words of Asia News, “Eye-witnesses of the al-Warraq attack confirm that despite numerous distress calls, police and ambulances only arrived on the scene two hours after the shooting.”

Both the massacres in Syria and Egypt received scant attention and even less condemnation by Western media and government.  Instead, people like Mohamed Elibiary, an Obama administration Homeland Security adviser, condemned Copts who raise awareness of anti-Christian violence in Egypt as promoting “Islamophobic” bigotry.

Similarly, although Christians are habitually killed in Muslim countries—as this monthly series attests—with little condemnation or even acknowledgment by the U.S. government, when five Muslims were killed in western Burma,  the United States, according to Voice of America, formally condemned it, “urging authorities to do more to address the long-standing sectarian tension there.”

The rest of October’s roundup of Muslim persecution of Christians around the world includes (but is not limited to) the following accounts, listed by theme and country in alphabetical order, not necessarily according to severity:

Apostasy, Blasphemy, Proselytism

Bangladesh:  “A local government official in central Bangladesh has halted the construction of a church, forced Christians to worship at a mosque and threatened them with eviction from their village unless they renounce their faith,” said Morning Star News: “The Tangail Evangelical Holiness Church in Bilbathuagani village… was created Sept. 8 by a group of about 25 Christians who had been meeting secretly for three years.  However, local council chairman Rafiqul Islam Faruk joined around 200 demonstrators Sept. 13 to protest against the start of the building of the church.  The following day, the Christians were summoned to his office. More than 1,000 Muslims waited outside, following an announcement at all local mosques to gather at the chairman’s office.”  There they were ordered to embrace Islam or suffer the dire consequences.  Said one of the Christians: “Their threats chilled me to the bone. That is why I pretended to accept Islam, but faith in Christ is the wellspring of my life.” Another said: “The chairman is clipping the wings of our faith. I do not know how long we can grin and bear it. We want religious freedom. We want to practice our religion freely.”  Eight Christians agreed to return to Islam since Sept. 14, under the chairman’s orders. The chairman and his associates had already beaten some of those Christians three years ago for accepting Christianity.

Iran: Mariam Naqqash, a female convert to Christianity, was sentenced to four years in prison by a court in Tehran.  The Christian convert was found guilty of “endangering national security by spreading religious propaganda in the country,” including by being a spy for Britain and Israel.  According to Adnkronos News, “renouncing the Muslim faith is punishable with the death penalty [in Iran]. Over 300 Iranian converts to Christianity have been arrested over the past two years, according to opposition websites.”

Kazakhstan: After Bakhytzhan Kashkumbayev, a 67-year-old pastor, was released from five months’ detention, on charges his family and others insist are spurious, and after being reunited with his family, he was re-arrested again within minutes, now accused of “propaganda of terrorism or extremism, or public calls to commit an act of terrorism or extremism, as well as the distribution of material of the content indicated.”  His son, Askar, told Forum 18 News Service, “These new accusations are complete rubbish. They’re trying to turn my father into a terrorist.”   Grace Church in Astana, where Kashkumbayev served, has, according to the report, long been subject to state harassment, including accusations of being involved in espionage, fraud, money laundering, distributing extremist texts and using hallucinogenic communion drinks.

Kenya: Charles Matole, pastor of the Redeemed Gospel Church, was found shot dead while still sitting with a Bible on his lap:  “We found him with blood oozing from the head,” said a choir member.  The pastor was receiving threatening messages by text previously. Similarly, Pastor Ebrahim Kidata of the East African Pentecostal Churches was found murdered by strangulation in a patch of bushes.

Pakistan:

  • After a Muslim man slaughtered a Christian—in broad daylight and in front of police—accusing him of being “an infidel who blasphemed against Muhammad” (see September report), a group of armed men broke into the dead man’s family home, threatening to kill its members if they did not withdraw their police complaint against the murderer, and convert to Islam.  Fr. Arshad Gill, a priest in Karachi, told Asia News “about this ‘sad story’ in which the victim is ‘an innocent man’ and his family is told to convert to Islam or die. For him, the case epitomises the situation of Pakistan’s minorities, forced to live ‘in conditions of profound insecurity’ in which events such as this one tend to exacerbate the situation….  Found in Article 295, B and C of the Pakistan Penal Code, the [blasphemy] ‘law’ punishes with death or life in prison anyone who desecrates the Qur’an or defames the name of the Prophet Muhammad.”  Those few political activists who have tried to repeal the law—such as Punjab Governor Salman Taseer, a Muslim, and Minorities Minister Shahbaz Bhatti, a Christian—have been murdered.
  • Three other Pakistani Christians face a possible death sentence on what lawyer Sardar Mushtaq Gill says are “trumped up charges” of “blasphemy.”  One of the Christians, Asif Pervaiz, is accused of sending phone text messages with “abusive language against Muslims, Islam, Prophet Mohammed and the Koran.”  Two other Christians, Pastor Adnan and Mushtaq Masih, were also arrested for allegedly writing “derogatory remarks” about Islam.  Possibly in reference to the aforementioned report concerning the family of the butchered Christian, otherwise a separate incident, Gill also said that “Days back we received some heart breaking information that there is one group who forced Christians to accept Islam at gun point.”
  • Another Christian man also accused of blasphemy, 26-year-old Adnan Masih, trained as a pastor at a United Pentecostal seminary, is being hunted by police; the banned Islamic extremist group, Jamaat ud Dawa in Lahore, further issued a fatwa, or Islamic decree, calling for his death—because he sought to correct misconceptions about Christianity in a Muslim book, specifically by writing biblical verses refuting Islamic characterizations of Christianity.  A source said the hunted man had no idea that “pointing out false references in a book would land him in such big trouble.”  In the words of a representative of Jamaat ud Dawa: “The police better arrest the blasphemer and hand him over to us on Saturday [Oct. 19].  We will not be responsible for any law-and-order situation in the city if the police fails to keep its assurance. How dare someone use derogatory language against our beloved prophet … Don’t they know that the Koran orders us to slit the throat of whoever is disrespectful to Allah’s beloved prophet.”
  • Rana Tanveer, a Muslim, and chief reporter of The Express Tribune, received a one-page letter in Urdu threatening him to stop covering the plight of minorities.  He was further accused of being an “apostate” for allegedly sympathizing with Christians and Ahmadis, instead of their Sunni Muslim oppressors, and threatened with death, “from where you cannot even imagine.”  Tanveer, a Muslim, insists that all his reports are objective and based on facts.

Dhimmitude

Egypt: After Muslims in al-Minya district accused a young man of having an illicit relationship with a Muslim woman, violence erupted against the village’s Christians (see September report).  More recently, the father of the Christian man in question insists that there was no relationship between his son and the Muslim woman, whose family, in his words, “actually had their daughter undergo a gynecological exam, which proved the woman is ‘untouched’ [a virgin].”  Instead, according to the father and many Copts in the village, “the whole story was fabricated by Muslim hard-liners from neighboring village to cause sectarian strife.” According to a separate Arabic report, in Asyut, “criminal groups and gangs managed to acquire guns and weapons and, as usual, have attacked and abused the Christians … [and] forced Copts to pay large amounts of money as tax [jizya] in order not to steal and/or plunder their lands.” The report also points out that no one does anything to oppose these gangs: “they simply kill Christians and their families as happened in the village of Shameiya when two Copts refused to pay the tax: the gang killed them and this was repeated in many other villages belonging to the governorate of Asyut. It is becoming so normal now to watch as these crimes against Christians occur day by day and nothing is done.”

Indonesia:  Still insisting that Susan Jasmine Zulkifli, a Christian woman appointed governor of the sub-district of Lenteng Agung, in West Java, be removed solely because of her faith (see September report), Muslim protesters stepped up their threats, including by carrying a coffin in a protest march consisting of some 600 Muslims—a clear death threat to the woman—and waving flags symbolic of death. The Christian woman was promoted in June by the Governor of Jakarta, who said in response: “I make my choices based on merits, not looking at religion.”

Iran: After being arrested in a house church December 2012 and charged with consuming alcohol in violation of the Islamic theocracy’s laws, four Christians were sentenced to 80 lashes for drinking communion wine.  “The sentences handed down to these members of the Church of Iran effectively criminalize the Christian sacrament of sharing in the Lord’s Supper and constitute an unacceptable infringement on the right to practice faith freely and peaceably,” opined one human rights activist.

Iraq: The nation’s Christians, more than half of whom have fled since the U.S.-led invasion a decade ago, are now also being targeted in and fleeing from northern Iraq, which until recently was considered a relatively safe region for Christians fleeing violence in the south.  Recently, for example, a suicide bomb went off outside the home of Christian politician Emad Youhanna in Rafigayn, part of the Kirkuk province, injuring 19 people, including three of his children.  Several more bomb attacks have also taken place in the northern city of Erbil, for which al-Qaeda claimed responsibility.  According to Christian News, “In early September, Christians in the village of Deshtakh complained that they were facing harassment from local police.  A group of Christian young people said that policemen told them that they ‘should not be in Iraq because it is Muslim territory.’  Violence in the south of the country is also escalating. Church leaders in Baghdad say that there are attacks on Christians every two or three days.”

Lebanon:  Muslims are appropriating Christian land in the historically Christian nation. According to Agenzia Fides: “An urgent reminder to curb the misuse of land belonging to Christians in order to build housing for the Muslims was launched on Monday, October 14 from Talal al- Doueihy, leader of the Movement ‘Lebanese Land, our Land’…. Across the Country there are outbreaks of clashes due to problem regarding land. Last week, in the Christian village of Alma (district of Zghorta) residents had complained that the Muslims of the area of al-Fuar had begun to build houses without permission. Already at the end of August, the same Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros Rai had called Christians to limit the sale of their property to avoid jeopardizing the demographic-confessional balance.”

Pakistan: After the bombs in the church of All Saints in Peshawar, where nearly 90 people, including many women and children, died, in the words of an Agenzia Fides report, “the situation remains tense in the Pakistani society: not only tragedy but also horror. The Christians said they were ‘horrified’ by the rumors that link the bombs in Peshawar to the vast problem of organ trafficking: this is what some members of NGOs in civil society in Pakistan told Fides. Some of the ‘jackals,’ presumably local paramedics, seem to have taken advantage of the high number of deaths and injuries in order to steal the bodies of victims and exploit them for the illegal organ trade. ‘If this were true, it would mean that there are criminals who are taking advantage of the suffering of Christian victims in a truly blasphemous and sacrilegious manner,’ notes Fr. Mario Rodrigues, a priest of Karachi.”  Meanwhile, some of the Christian survivors who mourned the deaths of loved ones too openly, were attacked, beat, and threatened with death. Finally, in a separate story, Harrison Masih, a Christian, working in a medical store who used to debate religion with Maulvi Khalad, a Muslim customer, got into an argument when Khalad tried to get him to convert to Islam, “telling him that he would enter paradise that way.” Because he refused to convert and didn’t want any trouble, in Harrison’s words: “I quit my job at the medical store but Khalid, and three other men, came to my house and threatened me and my family.”

About this Series

While not all, or even most, Muslims are involved, the persecution of Christians in the Islamic world is on its way to reaching pandemic proportions.  Accordingly, “Muslim Persecution of Christians” was developed to collate some—by no means all—of the instances of persecution that surface each month.

It serves two purposes:

1)    To document that which the mainstream media does not: the habitual, if not chronic, persecution of Christians.

2)    To show that such persecution is not “random,” but systematic and interrelated—that it is rooted in a worldview inspired by Sharia.

Accordingly, whatever the anecdote of persecution, it typically fits under a specific theme, including hatred for churches and other Christian symbols; sexual abuse of Christian women; forced conversions to Islam; apostasy and blasphemy laws that criminalize and punish with death those who “offend” Islam; theft and plunder in lieu of jizya (financial tribute expected from non-Muslims); overall expectations for Christians to behave like cowed dhimmis, or second-class, “tolerated” citizens; and simple violence and murder. Sometimes it is a combination.

Because these accounts of persecution span different ethnicities, languages, and locales—from Morocco in the West, to India in the East—it should be clear that one thing alone binds them: Islam—whether the strict application of Islamic Sharia law, or the supremacist culture born of it.

On Monday, airlines canceled about 1,700  flights at the two airports, while 1,300 were canceled Sunday when nearly foot  of snow fell on the city.

The National Weather Service says the  temperature was 10 degrees below zero at O’Hare on Tuesday morning, although the  wind chill made it feel significantly colder. By midday, the temperature climbed  to two below.

Temperatures in parts of West Virginia hit  lows not seen for 25 years, while the  extreme cold in Virginia broke records  that had stood since the late  1950s.

The National  Weather Service said the  mercury bottomed out at 3 degrees before  sunrise at Baltimore-Washington  Thurgood Marshal International Airport,  with a wind chill of minus  16.

Forecasters said some 187 million people in  all could feel the effects of the  ‘polar vortex’ by the time it spread across  the country.

PJM Interconnection, which operates the power  grid supplying energy to more than 61 million people in the Mid-Atlantic,  Midwest and South, asked  users to conserve electricity because of the cold,  especially in the  morning and late afternoon.

Meanwhile, recovery was the focus in several  Midwestern states. The subzero cold  followed inches of snow and high winds that  made traveling treacherous  and was blamed for numerous deaths in Michigan,  Illinois, Indiana and  Ohio.

On Monday, the temperatures reached such  extreme lows across the Midwest  that Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago was forced to  keep their polar bear  Anana indoors in a ‘climate-controlled’ area.

More than 500 Amtrak passengers spent the  night on three trains headed for  Chicago that were stranded because of blowing  and drifting snow in  Illinois. Spokesman Marc Magliari said all the passengers,  traveling  from Los Angeles, San Francisco and Quincy, Ill., would reach Chicago  by train or bus later Tuesday.

Warmer weather – at least, near or above  freezing – is in the forecast for  much of the eastern half of the U.S.  Indianapolis should reach 27  degrees on Wednesday, and other cities in the  Midwest and in the East  could climb above freezing later in the  week.

By Wednesday, subzero high temperatures will  be virtually gone from the  Lower 48 States. On Thursday, highs in the 20s or  30s in much of the  Great Lakes and Northeast will seem downright balmy compared  to earlier  in the week.

The deep freeze is to blame for at least 13  deaths so far – almost all of them from traffic accidents. A man in Wisconsin  died of hypothermia, while an elderly woman with  Alzheimer’s was found dead in  the snow about 100 yards away from her home in New York state after wandering  out.

Coldest morning in decades as polar vortex slams  U.S.

Monday’s subzero temperatures broke records  in Chicago, which set a record for  the date at minus 16, and Fort Wayne,  Indiana, where the mercury fell to 13 below.

Records  also fell in Oklahoma and Texas, and  wind chills across the region were  40 below and colder. Officials in states  like Indiana already struggling with high winds and more than a foot of snow  urged residents to stay  home if they could.

‘The  cold is the real killer here,’  Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard said on  Monday as he asked schools and  businesses to remain closed another day.  ‘In 10 minutes you could be dead  without the proper clothes.’

In Minnesota, officials took the rare step of  closing all of the state’s  public schools on Monday – the first time in 17  years.

Schools across  Chicago, Milwaukee and St  Louis were also closed, while officials in  Washington D.C. and as far south as  Atlanta have announced school  closures today.

On Monday the winds made it feel like 55  below zero in International Falls, Minnesota, and parts of the Midwest  accustomed to temperatures that are cold – albeit seldom this cold.

But  even the coal fields of Virginia and  West Virginia, the wind chill was  negative 35.

Every major  weather-reporting station in  Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin  reported temperatures below zero at 11am  on Monday, and South Dakota  would have joined them if not for the reading of 1  at Rapid City.

The coldest temperature reported in a 24-hour  period through Monday was -36 degrees at Crane Lake, Minnesota. The warmest: 84  at Hollywood and Punta  Gorda, Fla.

On Monday morning, Nashville was 40 degrees  colder than Albany, New York.  Memphis, Tennessee, was 20 degrees colder than  Anchorage, Alaska. And  Atlanta was colder than Moscow – either Russia or  Idaho.

In the Great Lakes region, temperatures  hovered in the negative 20s -  before wind chill, which dropped temps to the  negative 50s, making it  very dangerous to go outside.

Meteorologists have warned about ‘dangerous,  life-threatening winds’, that can inflict frostbite on exposed skin in just 10  minutes.

Temperatures are so cold across the Midwest  that antifreeze in residents’ cars could freeze, the National Journal pointed out. The popular  brand freezes at 34 degrees – and the coldest  temperature on Monday afternoon  was minus 35 in Crane Lake, Minnesota.

‘Skin freezes in just five minutes with a  wind chill of minus 50,’ said HLN meteorologist Bob Van Dillen as wind chills are putting temperatures in northern  Minnesota at 60 below zero.

For a big chunk of the Midwest, the  subzero  temperatures were moving in behind another winter wallop: more  than a foot of  snow and high winds that made traveling treacherous.

With wind chills as low as 45 below zero at  some airports, workers could only remain exposed on the ramp for a few minutes.  That made loading and unloading luggage a challenge.

JetBlue Airways stopped all scheduled flights  to and from New York and Boston.

Operations will begin to ramp up  again at  10am on Tuesday and the airline expects to be fully operational by 3pm on  Tuesday. It will allow the company to rest crew and give it  time to service  aircraft.

American Airlines said temperatures were so  cold at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport that fuel and de-icing liquids  were actually frozen. United Airlines said its fuel is pumping slower than  normal in Chicago.

The mercury also dropped into negative territory in Milwaukee, St. Louis and Chicago, which set a record for the date at minus 16. Wind chills across the region were 40 below and colder. Records also fell in Oklahoma and Texas.

Forecasters said some 187 million people in all could feel the effects of the “polar vortex” by the time it spread across the country on Monday night and Tuesday.

Record lows were possible in the East and South, with highs in the single digits expected Tuesday in Georgia and Alabama. Below-zero wind chills were forecast up and down the coast, including minus 10 in Atlanta and minus 12 in Baltimore.

Radiation Fears Prompt Russia To Bar More Than 100 Used Cars From Japan

Russia has barred some 132 used Japanese cars from entering the country due to radioactive pollution concerns.

Rospotrebnadzor, the country’s consumer watchdog agency, said it is very much concerned about the unsettled contaminated water leaks that continue to spring out from Japan‘s crippled Fukushima nuclear power plant.

The 132 used cars were part of 165 batches of contaminated goods that were denied to enter Russia. Aside from the cars, there were also vehicle spare parts.

Russia has likewise implemented strict monitoring on incoming fish deliveries from Japan, particularly those caught in the Pacific Ocean.

–>”Particular attention is paid to this issue in Russia’s Far East, where radiation control of fish is being wieldy implemented, including the distribution chain,” Rospotrebnadzor said in its Web site. This meant that Japanese food imports are prohibited to be brought to Russia unless these have official papers issued by a relevant and competent Japanese body. The papers must state that any level of radioactive substances is below the required norm established by the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

The agency noted all Japanese food products undergo a compulsory check for radioactive cesium.

So far, the country has not received any fish or other food products that “don’t meet sanitary regulations on radiation indicators,” the agency said.

The Fukushima nuclear power plant got crippled in March 2011 after a massive 9.0 strong magnitude earthquake shook the country which sent off a corresponding tsunami that eventually hit the nuclear facility.

Situated 250 kilometres from Tokyo, Japan’s capital city, the plant’s operator TEPCO did not acknowledge that tons of contaminated water had leaked into the Pacific Ocean from the Fukushima plant until July 2013. Moreover, TEPCO failed to control such leakages.

Rospotrebnadzor said the strict monitoring of all cargos coming from Japan will continue in 2014.

By Emily Miller -  The Washington Times – Monday, January 6, 2014

One year ago this month, President Obama announced that radical gun  control was the top of his agenda for his second term.

Although he failed to get any of the gun bans or government  registrations passed on the federal level, he was successful in one area. His  actions convinced millions of Americans to buy more firearms than any time in  history.

PHOTOS: Top 10  handguns in the U.S.

The FBI reported that it performed an astounding 21,093,273 background checks  for the year ending Dec. 31. In fact, eight of the top 10 highest weeks ever for  National Instant Background Check System (NICS) checks were in 2013 (the  other two were during Dec. 2012.)

The checks in 2013 were 8 percent higher than 2012. The one-year  increase is significant because the year leading up to the presidential election  also saw massive which firearm sales.

Mr. Obama has actually been the best gun salesman in history. NICS checks  have gone up a whopping 66 percent since he came to the White House.

“Last year was a record setting year for gun and ammunition sales due to the  threat of anti-gun legislation at both the state and federal level,” said  Lawrence Keane, general counsel of the National Shooting Sports Foundation  (NSSF), which represents the industry’s manufacturers.

NSSF also released its own data on Monday which subtracts out the National  Instant Background Check System (NICS) checks done for carry permits, which  makes it a closer correlation to actual purchases. The NSSF adjusted NICS shows  a 2013 year-end figure of 14,796,872.

The background checks reports are mirrored by financial information released  by firearms companies.

Smith & Wesson had net sales of $625 million in the fiscal year quarters  that ended on Oct. 31, 2013. That is an impressive 25 percent increase over that  same period in 2012.

Sturm, Ruger & Company reported net sales of $506 million for the first  three quarters of 2013, which was a 45 percent increase over the corresponding  period the previous year.

Freedom Group, which owns companies including Remington, DPMS and Bushmaster,  reported that the first three quarters of 2013 had net sales of $1 billion, up  47 percent from the $677 in revenue for the same period in 2012.

The gun grabbers will claim that gun sales were based on the “corporate gun  lobby” fear mongering and pandering to old gun owners who then stockpiled.

However, retailers report that one-quarter of gun sales were to first-time  buyers who don’t fit that stereotype.

Mr. Keane said that the reason for the bully sales recently are as much  political as a change in the industry.

“Demand is settling back down from the peaks of 2013, but the valley floor is  much higher than before because of the significant number of new firearms owners — many of them young, urban and female — who elected to exercise their Second  Amendment rights for the first time,” he told me Monday.

Scientists Discover Conjoined Gray Whale Calves Dying Near West Coast

Following continued news of disturbing sea life occurrences off the West Coast,  scientists in Mexico’s Scammon’s Lagoon, also known as Laguna Ojo de Liebre,  have discovered what appears to be the first ever documented case of conjoined  gray whale calves.

Following continued news of disturbing sea life occurrences off the West Coast, scientists in Northern Mexico’s Laguna Ojo de Liebre, formerly known as Scammon’s Lagoon, have discovered what appears to be the first ever documented case of conjoined gray whale calves.

Discovered last Sunday, the calves, which did not survive, measured in at just under seven feet long, much smaller than the average newborn length of 12 to 16 feet.

“Unfortunately the specimen died, his survival was difficult,” a translated comment from the Guerrero Negro Verde Facebook page reads.

Shockingly underdeveloped, American Cetacean Society researcher Alisa Schulman-Janiger believes the calves were the result of a miscarriage. Later collecting the carcass for further analysis, scientists made no comments regarding a possible cause.

While conjoined twins have been found in several other whale species, a search of the database at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County by local scientists produced no records of conjoined gray whales.

Although no information has yet been released, concerns over the ongoing Fukushima disaster has many asking questions, especially in light of rare animal deaths spreading along the West Coast.

Incidences such as the ongoing “melting sea star” epidemic, which has been seen off the coast of California, Oregon, Washington and Canada, have yet to be explained as sea stars are found literally disintegrating.

Even with Japanese scientists finding “high” Cesium levels in plankton throughout the Pacific as far back as May 2013, governments continue to call the amounts safe.

A recent study published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences found that the number of dead sea creatures covering the floor of the Pacific is higher than it has ever been since monitoring began 24 years ago. Despite attempts by some to “debunk” the study and blame the occurrence on “global warming,” a closer look at the study clearly points to Fukushima as the most likely factor.

Following the Department of Health and Human Services’ purchase of 14 million doses of potassium iodide last week, many believe the federal government has begun preparing, as the situation in Japan worsens.

Admittedly high radiation levels recently found on a California beach have also brought national attention to the subject, with major news outlets such as the Drudge report linking to reports of the incident.

While the verdict is still out on the once in a lifetime whale discovery, the continued growth of rare occurrences has only peaked the public’s interest.

“Russian ship ‘Akademik Shokalskiy’ stuck in Antarctic Ice starts moving again, per my forecast – both ships have broken free of ice!” (American Blogger)

AMSA News        @AMSA_NewsFollow

The Akademik Shokalskiy and the Xue Long have broken free of heavy ice and are making progress towards open water. http://bit.ly/1lzF4KQ

It seems my forecast worked out well. From RT news:

A Russian-built ship stranded in the Antarctic ice has started moving away from the ice fields after a change of wind cleared its path. A Chinese icebreaker, which was caught herself on the way to rescue the vessel, has already reached clear waters.

Luckily, as the weather changed the danger threatening the trapped vessels decreased.

“The situation is favorable now. First, the wind changed direction from an Easterly to a North-Westerly, which changed the direction of ice drift. A large crack formed in the ice, and the ship is now navigating it,” Yury Volgov, director of the Far-Eastern Hydrometeorology Research Institute, which owns the Academician Shokalsky, told media.

The ship may escape the clutches of the ice field quite soon, ship captain Igor Kiselyov said.

“We are sailing at low speed, changing courses. We’ve traveled 20 miles so far. It’s difficult so far, with dense fog and visibility no further than 500 meters. But the ice is thinner and broken here, so we’re moving,” he said.

WUWT readers may recall that when U.S. TV meteorologists, including yours truly, were asked to assist in weather forecasting for the stranded vessel, I made a prediction on December  31st:

“In a couple of minutes John Coleman was back on the phone to me, he wanted my assessment of the maps. I had looked at what was happening and saw what I thought might be an opening in 7-8 days based on the forecast graphics from WeatherBell, where the winds would shift to offshore in the area where Akademik Shokalskiy was stuck.”

Here is the story of that forecast:

The Chinese ship Xue Long, which was caught in the ice pack herself on the way to rescue the Russian vessel, has already reached clear waters. From AMSA:

==============================================================

clip_image002_thumb.jpg 8:00am, Wednesday 8 January 2014 Both Antarctic vessels making progress through ice

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority’s (AMSA) Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC Australia) was informed early this morning that both the Akademik Shokalskiy and the Xue Long have managed to break free from heavy ice in Commonwealth Bay, Antarctica. At about 730pm AEDT on Tuesday RCC Australia received a message from the Captain of the Akademik Shokalskiy stating that about three hours earlier cracks had started to open in the ice around the trapped vessel.

A short time later the Akademik Shokalskiy began to make slow movements in an attempt to break free from surrounding ice. The Captain reported that at approximately 8pm AEDT they had managed to successfully clear the area containing the heaviest ice and had begun making slow progress north through lighter ice conditions.

Shortly after midnight RCC Australia was advised by the Captain of the Xue Long that, at about 9pm AEDT, it too had managed to break free of the heavy ice and is now making slow progress through lighter ice conditions.

RCC Australia has advised the Captains of both vessels to attempt to reach open waters and advise the RCC once clear of the ice field. The Xue Long has advised RCC Australia it does not require any further assistance at this time. The Akademik Shokalskiy continues to move through the ice field and RCC Australia is awaiting confirmation that it does not require any further assistance.

The United States Coast Guard ice breaker Polar Star will continue to head towards the area until it is clear that both vessels are free of the ice field and no longer in danger. Media Enquiries: 1300 624 633 – Source: http://www.amsa.gov.au/media

Turkey: Al-Qaeda, NATO’s Timeless Tool

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his friend Barack Hussein Obama (MC: they speak daily on the telephone)

The discovery of links connecting Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Al- Qaeda is upsetting Turkish politics. Ankara not only actively supported terrorism in Syria, but did so as part of a NATO strategy. For Thierry Meyssan, the case also shows the artificiality of armed groups fighting against the government and the Syrian people.

by    Thierry Meyssan

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his friend Yasin al-Qadi

So far, the authorities of the Member States of NATO affirm that the international jihadist movement, whose training they supported during the Afghan war against the Soviets (1979), would have turned against them upon the liberation of Kuwait (1991). They accuse Al-Qaeda of having attacked embassies in Kenya and Tanzania (1998) and of plotting the attacks of September 11, 2001 but admitted that, after the official death of Osama Bin Laden (2011), some jihadist elements again collaborated with them in Libya and Syria. However, Washington would have ended this tactical rapprochement in December 2012.

Now, this version is contradicted by the facts: Al-Qaeda has always fought the same enemies as the Atlantic Alliance, as reveals once again the scandal currently shaking Turkey.

We are learning that the Al-Qaeda banker, Yasin al-Qadi, who was designated as such and pursued by the United States since the attacks against embassies in Kenya and Tanzania (1998), was a personal friend of both former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney and current Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. We discover that this ” terrorist” led a lavish lifestyle, traveling by private plane and mocking UN sanctions against him. Thus, at least four times, he visited Erdoğan in 2012, arriving by the second Istanbul airport where, after disconnecting the cameras, he was welcomed by the head of the Prime Minister’s guard without going through customs.

According to the Turkish police and judges who revealed this information and incarcerated the children of several ministers involved in the case, December 17, 2013 – before being divested of the investigation (relieved of their duties) by the Prime Minister -, Yasin al-Qadi and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had developed an extensive system of diversion of funds to finance al-Qaeda in Syria.

At the same time that this incredible double play was exposed, the Turkish police stopped a truck carrying weapons for Al-Qaeda near the Syrian border.  Of the three people arrested, one said he was conveying the load on behalf of IHH, the ’humanitarian’ Association of the  Turkish Muslim Brotherhood, while another claimed to be a Turkish secret agent on a mission. Ultimately, the governor prevented the police and justice from doing their work, confirming that the transport was a covert MIT (Turkish Secret Service) operation, and ordered that the truck and its load continue their journey.

The investigation also shows that the Turkish financing of Al- Qaeda used an Iranian company both to act undercover in Syria and to conduct terrorist operations in Iran. NATO already had accomplices in Tehran during the “Iran-Contra” operation in former President Rafsandaji’s inner circles, such as Sheikh Rohani, who has become the current president.

These facts come into play as the Syrian political opposition in exile launches a new theory on the eve of the Geneva 2 Conference: The al-Nosra Front and the Islamic Emirate in Iraq and the Levant (ÉIIL) would be façades of the Syrian secret services trying to frighten the population to keep it under control. The only armed opposition would be that of the Free Syrian Army (FSA), which recognizes the authority of the Syrian political opposition. There would be no problem of representativeness at the Peace Conference.

We are therefore asked to forget all the good that the same opposition in exile was saying of Al-Qaeda for three years and the silence of NATO members on the spread of terrorism in Syria.

Therefore, if we can allow that most of the leaders of the Atlantic Alliance were unaware of the support of their organization for international terrorism, we must also allow that NATO is mainly responsible for world terrorism. Thierry Meyssan

Farmers File Lawsuit to Protect Themselves Against Monsanto

Monsanto would have you believe that their seeds cause no risk to modern  agriculture, that they are simply trying to provide the best products to feed  the world. But, both in the lab and in the fields, we’ve seen this to be far  from true. Worse, GMOs are contaminating conventional fields, and  leaving some farmers with no choice as to what they grow. This has led to  numerous farmers joining forces, filing lawsuits against Monsanto to protect  themselves.

Recently, the Public Patent Foundation filed a brief with the high court of  the land in an effort to protect these farmers. The case, Organic Seed Growers  and Trade Association (OSGATA) vs. Monsanto, was  thrown off track earlier this year by an Appellate Court ruling in favor of  the seed giant. Now, organic and conventional family farmers are hoping the  Supreme Court will grant them the right to protect their crops and their  livelihood from contamination and legal action by Monsanto.

The OSGATA is not only concerned about what might happen to their crops if  they are contaminated with GM pollen from neighboring Monsanto fields, but  whether the corporation will sue them for patent infringement. The company says  it won’t. But, they’ve done it before.

“As a seed grower, who has spent the past 37 years of my life protecting and  maintaining the integrity of my seed stock to provide clean, wholesome food to  my customers, I find it unconscionable that Monsanto can contaminate mine or my  neighbors’ crops and not only get away with it, but potentially sue us for  patent infringement,” said Jim Gerritsen, an organic seed farmer and President  of lead Plaintiff OSGATA, according to GMWatch.org. “The appeals court ruling fails to protect my family and our farm and has only  complicated matters.”

Currently, pollen from genetically modified plants is contaminating  conventional fields, leaving those farmers who wish to keep GMOs out with  considerable costs as they test their crops and seeds to ensure there is no  transgenic contamination. What’s worse, the USDA  considers GMO contamination ‘normal’.

google images

Earlier this year, a US Appeals Court ruled plaintiffs  are unable to bring suit against Monsanto in order to protect themselves from  Monsanto’s contamination. The Court said, “Monsanto has made binding assurances  that it will not take legal action against growers whose crops might  inadvertently contain traces of Monsanto biotech genes.” They made this  determination from an anonymous statement on the Monsanto website.

The peculiar ruling leaves organic and conventional farmers fighting a  spreading fire with a squirt bottle. If they have no rights to sue Monsanto to  protect their farms, they will see their fields contaminated.

The Supreme Court should decide whether or not to hear the case in coming  months. NaturalSociety will keep you informed.

They control the seed they control us…

There’s nothing they are leaving untouched: the mustard, the okra, the bringe oil, the rice, the cauliflower. Once they have established the norm: that seed can be owned as their property, royalties can be collected. We will depend on them for every seed we grow of every crop we grow. If they control seed, they control food, they know it – it’s strategic. It’s more powerful than bombs. It’s more powerful than guns.

This is the best way to control the populations of the world. The story starts in the White House, where Monsanto often got its way by exerting disproportionate influence over policymakers via the “revolving door”. One example is Michael Taylor, who worked for Monsanto as an attorney before being appointed as deputy commissioner of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1991. While at the FDA, the authority that deals with all US food approvals, Taylor made crucial decisions that led to the approval of GE foods and crops. Then he returned to Monsanto, becoming the company’s vice president for public policy….

Australian Farmer Taking Monsanto Farmer to Court

Published on Dec  2, 2013

French and Spanish subtitles available.
Steve Marsh lives and farms at Kojonup in Western Australia. In 2010 he lost his organic certification when GM canola from next door jumped the fence and contaminated 70% of his farm. In a world first, he is suing his GM neighbour for damages and if he wins he not only protects his right to grow clean GM free organic food, he also protects our rights to eat GM free foods.

..

Update: Steve Marsh’s trial is scheduled to start on the 10th of February, 2014 at the Western Australian Supreme Court. We need to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for the court case.

Please make a donation now!

You might not have heard of Steve Marsh yet but this man could lose everything to protect your right to eat GM-free food. Steve is an organic farmer from a farming community South of Perth in Kojonup, Western Australia and in 2010, the state government of Western Australia lifted the ban on GM canola, allowing for the commercial cultivation of this GM crop for the first time. As a result many farmers, including Marsh’s next door neighbour, began growing GM canola. Subsequently, Steve found GM canola plants spread over much of his farm, containing seed. 70% of Steve’s farm was contaminated and he lost his organic certification.

The full version of our video is also available here.

This contamination has had a dramatic impact on Steve and his livelihood, while Monsanto, because of their no liability agreement signed with each GM farmer, are free of any responsibility for GM contamination. Instead of accepting this biotech invasion, Steve has decided to take a stand. As the only avenue available, Steve is taking his neighbour to court for compensation of loss and damages. The GM farmer is being supported by pro GM lobby group the Pastoralists & Graziers Association. This case is the first of its kind in the world, where an organic farmer is seeking compensation from a GM farmer when his rights have been violated by GM contamination. This is something that Steve does not want to do but he has no other option if he wants to stand up for his right to farm GM free and our right to eat GM free.

“Steve Marsh is one person, but Steve Marsh is everyone”  – Costa Georgiadis   #IamSteveMarsh

The labelling system in Australia and New Zealand is full of loop holes and often the only way to be certain that a food is GM-free is to buy organic. When Steve took his issue to the Agricultural Minister at the time, Terry Redman, he was told that the organic standards are to blame for his loss suggesting that organic foods should allow contamination by GM. We disagree and believe that it is a fundamental right of all of us to grow and eat GM free foods, especially organic foods.

If the court decides that it is ‘unreasonable’ for the organic industry to have a zero tolerance for GMO’s, the result is that in Australia you will have no right to eat GM-free products and no way to guarantee that products grown in Australia are GM-free. The cost to purchase and trade in GM-free products will go up if non-GM farmers have to pay the cost of contamination. And eventually, GM-free crops may be eradicated due to contamination in the long-term!

Steve is standing up for what he believes in but he cannot do it alone that is why the Safe Food Foundation is coordinating fundraising for Steve’s legal costs to ensure that Steve has the best chance to go to court and win for every one of us.

The international law firm of Slater & Gordon has taken on the case under their public interest policy but there are still many other costs necessary for barristers, court costs and expert witnesses and this will cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Steve could not take this case without our support.

SM donate button final

If you believe farmers should have the right to produce GM-free food which ultimately equals your right to eat it, if you believe the GM-free farmer should not be the one responsible to pay the cost of contamination, please support Steve and make a donation now!

High Radiation Levels Confirmed At Half Moon Bay, California

Published on Jan  8, 2014 hot spots are popping up around the United States thousands of percentages higher than ‘background radiation’, mutated wildlife is being found dead on the same West Coast beaches where increased radiation levels have been documented by independent researchers and the Fukushima TEPCO plant workers have been caught using duct tape to fix their nuclear equipment. But according to both the Japanese and United States governments, these events mean absolutely nothing. In fact, you must be a conspiracy theorist if you fail to believe the official story that it was likely red-painted utensils that led to a spike in documented radiation levels along the California coast (yes, the government actually offered this up as an official answer). And you must absolutely be a conspiracy theorist if you have the gall to actually look back to late 2011, when researchers presented their findings regarding the impending wave of Fukushima radiation that was already being recorded within the country.

One of the largest pension asset management companies in the Netherlands has said that it divesting from five Israeli banks because they finance Jewish settlements in occupied territories.

PGGM, which reportedly manages over £125 billion in funds, issued a statement saying it would no longer work with Hapoalim, Leumi, the First National Bank of Israel, the Israel Discount Bank and the Mizrahi Tefahot Bank.

The decision is expected to cost Israel tens of millions of pounds, according to Haaretz.

A PGGM spokesperson told newspapers: “The reason for this was their involvement in financing Israeli settlements in occupied Palestinian territories. The settlements in the Palestinian territories are considered illegal under humanitarian law.”

I believe another Netherlands pension fund is about to divest – forgot the name. The Netherlands, Vitens, have also ended their projects with Israel. I read where academia were also boycotting. And I think the Netherlands Unilever withdrew a couple of years ago – no great loss with that outfit – their products contain GMO’s-> Becel/Flora, Bertolli, Country Crook/Blue Brand/Rama, Heartbrand, Hellmann’s/Amora, Korr, Lipton, and Slim·Fast.

PGGM also invests in the Republic of Angola, Chevron, Exxon, and Wal-Mart. I’m surprised they’re not invested in the Anglo/Dutch Shell Oil.

Born in 1907 in Bessarabia, Imperial Russia (Moldova) and died in 1958 in New York. Although he may have come from a family of cantors going back six generations, he seems to have been drawn to the stage and popular entertainment from an early age. Oysher joined a Canadian travelling Yiddish theatrical troupe in 1921 and moved to New York City in 1923. By 1932 he had started his own company, entertaining in the USA and South America. After returning to the USA from Buenos Aires in 1934, he had difficulty finding work in New York’s Yiddish Theater. When he was offered the opportunity to sing for the High Holy Days at the First American-Rumanian Synagogue in NYC’s Lower East Side, he accepted the position and became a cantorial sensation!

Despite his great success as a cantor Moishe Oysher was ever the entertainer and became quite famous for his starring roles in three Yiddish films including, “The Cantor’s Son” (1936), “The Singing Blacksmith” (1938), and “Overture to Glory” (1940). He was also a successful recording artist.

Moishe Oysher was able to combine his passion for the Chazzanut with his love of performance, creating a crowd-pleasing style that thrilled audiences in synagogues and theaters. His recordings represent the world of our fathers and grandfathers who appreciated Oysher’s rich voice and fiery style.

White House Says Record Low Temperatures Caused by Global Warming (enviro-eugenist – Holdren)

John “Planetary Regime” Holdren insults our intelligence with more quack science

Paul Joseph Watson Infowars.com January 9, 2014

The White House has released a YouTube video in which Obama science czar John P. Holdren dubiously claims that the recent ‘polar vortex’ which has caused record low temperatures across many areas of the United States is caused by global warming.

“Published on Jan  8, 2014 – President Obama’s Science and Technology Advisor, Dr. John Holdren, explains the polar vortex in 2 minutes—and why climate change makes extreme weather more likely going forward. Learn more at http://wh.gov/climate-change. January 8, 2014″ – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eDTzV6a9F4

Holdren may be familiar to some of our readers as the author of a 1977 textbook entitled Ecoscience in which the current White House advisor called for a “planetary regime” to carry out forced abortions and mandatory sterilization procedures, as well as drugging the water supply, in an effort to cull the human surplus.

In the video, Holdren explains that record low temperatures which in places like Embarrass, Minnesota dropped to a staggering -45F (-43C), are caused by global warming which is responsible for the polar vortex becoming “wavier” and effecting the United States.

He also lambastes those who cite cold weather as an argument against man-made global warming (despite the fact that global warming alarmists routinely do the same thing when it gets hot in summer).

“A growing body of evidence suggests that the extreme cold being experienced by much of the United States as we speak is a pattern that we can expect to see with increasing frequency as global warming continues,” claims Holdren.

However, that’s not what the IPCC, the United Nations body which has become the supreme authority for global warming advocates, had to say in its 2007 report, which stated there was, “likely to be a decline in the frequency of cold air outbreaks… in [northern hemisphere] winter in most areas.”

Holdren is also apparently unaware of the fact that the IPCC was forced to admit last year that there hasn’t even been any global warming since 1998.

Back in 1974 Time Magazine, which 40 years later blamed the polar vortex on global warming, attributed the very same polar vortex to global cooling.

In a similar vein, back in 1986 John P. Holdren himself was busy fearmongering about a new ice age during which “carbon-dioxide induced famines” would kill 1 billion people by 2020 as part of a global cooling “eco disaster”.

The White House’s ludicrous claim that the polar vortex is caused by global warming has been rejected by most, but the Guardian published an article on Tuesday which argued that the extreme low temperatures were a consequence of shrinking Arctic ice, despite the fact that Arctic sea ice recently grew by a mammoth 533,000 square miles in a year, rendering predictions by climate alarmists of an “ice free” Arctic summer by 2013 completely embarrassing.

According to Princeton Physicist Dr. Will Happer, “Polar vortices have been around forever. They have almost nothing to do with more CO2 in the atmosphere.”

Why on earth should we believe quack scientists like Holdren who have proven themselves to be completely inaccurate when it comes to spewing fraudulent and alarmist claims about man-made climate change? Holdren was spectacularly wrong when he said that global cooling would wipe out 1 billion people just 27 years ago, and now he is saying the exact opposite, claiming that global warming is the threat.

Statists who have seized control of the environmental movement will make whatever bizarre claims necessary in order to advance their agenda of restricting personal freedom and introducing carbon taxes, which have already been implemented in many countries under different guises.

Obama’s Science Czar John Holdren involved in unwinding “Climategate”  scandal

By Judi McLeod (Bio and Archives)  Tuesday, November 24, 2009

image

Lift up a rock and another snake comes slithering out from the ongoing  University of East Anglia Climate Research Unit (CRU) scandal, now riding as   “Climategate”.

Obama Science Czar John Holdren is directly involved in CRU’s unfolding  Climategate scandal.  In fact, according to files released by a CEU hacker or whistleblower, Holdren is involved in what Canada Free Press (CFP) columnist Canadian climatologist Dr. Tim Ball terms “a truculent and nasty manner that provides a brief demonstration of his lack of understanding, commitment on faith and willingness to ridicule and bully people”.

“The files contain so much material that it is going to take some time to put it all in context,” says Ball.  “However, enough is already known to underscore their explosive nature.  It is already clear the entire claims and positions of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) are based on falsified manipulated material and is therefore completely compromised.

“The fallout will be extensive as material continues to emerge.  Reputations of the scientists involved are already destroyed, however fringe players will continue to be identified and their reputations destroyed or sullied.”

While the mainstream media is bending into pretzels to keep the scandal under the rug, Climategate is already the biggest scientific scandal in history because of the global policy implications….Read more: http://www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/17183

John Holdren, Obama’s Science Czar, says: Forced abortions and mass sterilization needed to save the planet.Book he authored in 1977 advocates for extreme totalitarian measures to control the populationForced abortions. Mass sterilization. A “Planetary Regime” with the power of  life and death over American citizens. The tyrannical fantasies of a madman? Or merely the opinions of the person now in control of science policy in  the United States? Or both?

.

These ideas (among many other equally  horrifying recommendations) were put forth by John Holdren,  whom Barack Obama has recently appointed Director of the White House Office of  Science and Technology Policy, Assistant to the President for Science and
Technology, and Co-Chair of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and
Technology — informally known as the United States’ Science Czar. In a book Holdren co-authored in 1977, the man  now firmly in control of science policy in this country wrote that:

.

• Women could be forced to abort their pregnancies, whether they wanted to or not;

• The population at large could be sterilized by infertility drugs  intentionally put into the nation’s drinking water or in food;
• Single  mothers and teen mothers should have their babies seized from them against their  will and given away to other couples to raise;
• People who “contribute to  social deterioration” (i.e. undesirables) “can be required by law to exercise  reproductive responsibility” — in other words, be compelled to have abortions  or be sterilized.
• A transnational “Planetary Regime” should assume control
of the global economy and also dictate the most intimate details of Americans’
lives — using an armed international police force.

.

Impossible,  you say? That must be an exaggeration or a hoax. No one in their right mind
would say such things.

.

Well, I hate to break the news to you, but it  is no hoax, no exaggeration. John Holdren really did say those things, and this  report contains the proof. More, even worse soundbites, at the site. I’m not even close to being a climate expert but using commonsense – ok - they’re saying that warm air has pushed the polar air mass South, making our Winter colder BUT isn’t cold air more dense thus making it extremely difficult for warm air to move the cold air? Methinks it actually works the other way around – cold air moves warm air masses before it like the blade of a bulldozer…

A malfunction within the Fukushima plant has led to the complete shutdown of the plant’s decontamination system.

As the Fukushima nightmare continues under the wing of plant operator TEPCO, the blatant incompetence of the highly deceptive corporation is once again apparent following a complete shutdown of the plant’s decontamination system. The very same system responsible for handling the mass amounts of radioactive water around Fukushima that TEPCO originally promised would be entirely decontaminated by the end of 2014.

And instead of fulfilling their promise to decontaminate the plant’s radioactive water by the end of 2014, TEPCO now insists that it needs another entire year to finish the job — and this system shutdown certainly will not help in reducing that time. According to media sources and official TEPCO statements, the failure of the Advanced Liquid Processing System (ALPS) may ‘take a long time to restart’. What’s worse, however, is that this is not the first time the system has been shutdown due to failure.

As early as last December, TEPCO also experienced a malfunction within their decontamination equipment that led to the inability to filter radionuclides like strontium and cobalt from the contaminated plant water.

But is it any surprise to know that the same plant operation company that is shuffling in homeless Japanese citizens to clean up the area is also highly incompetent when it comes to the use of safety machinery? This is even the same company that was caught using duct tape to patch up critical equipment around the plant.

Tepco Shareholders Approve Nationalization

By Mitsuru Obe – June 27, 2012

Tepco management, led by Chairman Tsunehisa Katsumata, secured an agreement from the government last month to inject ¥1 trillion ($12.6 billion) in government capital in return for a 50.1% stake in the company. The government also holds the right to increase its stake to 75% if the management fails to overhaul its operations. 1

“We agreed to the plan because we urgently needed money and there was nobody else who could come up with ¥1 trillion, except the government,” Mr. Katsumata told shareholders. The plan allows Tepco to buy back government-owned shares when its business recovers…

Armenian Slaughtered for Refusing to Renounce Christ

Following the other day’s news that two Armenian families in Syria had been compelled to convert to Islam at the hands of the terrorist organization, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL)—which, nonetheless, claimed that the conversions were done “willingly”—new information has emerged concerning the recent killing of a young Armenian man, Minas, for refusing to convert to Islam, again at the hands of ISIL.

He was reportedly killed in one of ISIL’s dungeons in Aleppo, north Syria, which has a notable Armenian minority.

According to iNews, “Minas and his father were held in ISIL’s prison for 115 days, according to one activist, and his accusation was that he refused to submit [to Islam, i.e., convert].”

iNews adds that activists from the region sent the above picture, saying it is of the slain Minas.  Other activists confirm that the picture is of a slain Armenian in Syria, but not of Minas.  In any case, the man appears to be wearing the garments of the Armenian Evangelical Church of Aleppo.

The same report mentions other Christian Armenians killed, including one who reportedly had “his head chopped off and placed in a biscuit box.”
